SANTA CRUZ - CAPITOLA WEEKEND

I rode CalTrain from San Francisco to San Jose and transferred to the Highway 17 Amtrak Bus to Santa Cruz on Saturday morning and then met David at the Santa Cruz Metro Transportation Center about 1:00 p.m.

We drove to the ocean and had lunch outdoors at Aldo's Restaurant at the marina.

After lunch we walked along the pier to the Santa Cruz Harbor Walton Lightlouse.

In the evening David fixed dinner at his home and we watched a French film "Chocolat," a fun movie.

On Sunday morning, September 2, we did a walking tour of Capitola, CA

We visited the Shadowbrook Restaurant and took the gondola ride down to the restaurant.

The walk back up from the restaurant is through a beautifully landscaped garden.

We walked into Downtown Capitola for the annual Labor Day Begonia Festival.

Mr. Toots Coffeehouse provided a great viewing area to watch the parade of the flower-covered boats.

We ordered drinks and watched from the cafe balcony the various floats.

The Grand Prize Winner was the Begonia Belle Riverboat

We walked back to the car by an alternate route and saw some interesting architecture.

That evening we had an excellent Hawaiian dinner in Santa Cruz at Hula's Island Grill & Tiki Room.

Monday morning I returned to San Francisco via bus and CalTrain.

Fun weekend!
