AUSTIN TO DALLAS

I decided to take the bus to Dallas because Greyhound offers more time options each day than Amtrak, which has only one train daily.

I left Austin at 12:30 p.m. and arrived in Dallas about 4:00 p.m. It was a full bus, but a pleasant ride, with only one stop in Waco for 10 mintues.

My hotel is in the Historic West End District of Dallas, so it was an easy 4-block walk from the Greyhound Bus Station.

The Hotel Lawrence was built in 1925 and has been recently renovated.

My hotel room retains a lot of the charm of 1925, but also has modern conveniences such as internet service.

A nice touch is the manager's reception in the lobby where complimentary freshly baked cookies and cold milk are served each evening from 8 to 10 p.m.  How civilized!

Tomorrow I explore Dallas.
