POPLAR BLUFF, MO to MEMPHIS, TN

I arrived in Memphis about 1:00 p.m. and stopped at the Visitor's Center to pick up some brochures. I also drove to Miss Cordelia's Grocery and Deli to get information regarding the AVA walking tour. I then checked into my hotel and set out to explore Memphis.

The 5K walking tour begins at the Visitor Center. This is a good walk to get a sense of the city design.

This mosaic egg-shaped sculpture identifies the Visitor Center outside.

Inside the Visitor Center are statues of Elvis and B.B. King.

A beautiful park along Main Street

The First Lee House on Adams Street

Autozone Park - Home of the Memphis Redbirds, triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals

Old Daisy Theatre

Beale Street
The walk ended at Beale Street about 6:00 p.m., so I stopped and listened to some music.
All along Beale Street there are outdoor stages with entertainers, mostly performing blues.
Some indoor bars and restaurants also have live music and with the doors open you can hear the music from the street. I was there during the day and there was lots of good music - nighttime must be jumping.

B.B. King's Blues Club

While there, I had some good barbeque pork at Pig - "Pork with an attitude"
It was good, but I think I'll find even better barbeque in Memphis.

I'm pretty tired now - more of Memphis tomorrow.
